＂An Atlas of Mirrors＂ is almost laugh- ably literal, an exhibition dominated by maps and mirrors. Because the Singapore Biennale is now so fully formed by its host, the Singapore Art Museum （this year Susie Lingham led both）, it naturally takes on the shape of the latter＇s curatorial logic： curators are responsible for geographic territories much like curators in the modernist institutions of the Western centers are responsible for artistic media. These twinned institutions mirror themselves as mirrors mirroring the regions surrounding Singapore, regions that bleed into the daily life of the city-state even as capital domiciled in its banks seeps back out into the markets around it.
