摘要
本文介绍利用光纤作为传输媒介的局部区域网新标准,即光纤分布数据接口FDDI和FDDI-Ⅱ的概貌。先讲计算机局域网(LAN)标准的发展过程,再分节说明新标准FDDI光纤环网的拓扑结构、数据序列格式、站的分层组织、物理层的硬件和作用、令牌媒介进出控制(MAC)的职能作用及站管理(SMT)的运用,最后讲FDDI和FDDI-Ⅱ环网的可能应用。
This paper outlines the fiber distributed data interface(FDDI),which is a newly proposed standard, for a 100Mb/s token ringusing optical fiber medium. After introducing the background of thestandards for local area network (LAN), the paper briefly describes theFDDI topology architecture, the frame and token formats as well ascycle format, the station organization, physical layer(PHY) operation,token medium access control(MAC) functional operation, station management(SMT) operation. Finally, it gives an example of FDDI and FDDI-Ⅱnetwork applications capability.
