20世纪80年代"工艺美术"与"设计"概念的讨论体现出传统与现代之间的分野,其中隐含着"观念启蒙抑或革命才是社会进步的源动力"的命题。在"改革开放"政策实施的背景下,保守与前进、历史与现代、设计与市场、本土与西方的综合性建构是80年代美术设计所面临的问题与任务,这一过程实质上就是中国当代美术设计的观念启蒙运动。

The discussion on concept of Arts ＆ Crafts and design that reflects the distinction between tradition and modernity in 1980s, which implies the concept of enlightenment or revolution is the source of social progress. In the context of Reforms and Opening-up policy, the art design is facing problems and tasks on comprehensive construction of forward and conservative, historical and modern, design and market, local and western, and this process is essentially ideas of the enlightenment of Chinese art design.
