电影《唐人街》是罗曼·波兰斯基的经典之作,波兰斯基的新黑色电影美学风格在这部影片中表现得淋漓尽致。其经典之处不仅在于精巧构筑的剧本上,还在于不但继承了经典黑色电影的特点,还体现出了有别于经典黑色电影的新黑色风格。《唐人街》的新黑色电影美学特征不但体现在叙事视角、人物塑造和死亡主题的呈现三个方面,还表现在波兰斯基对于自我意识的表达上。

Chinatown is the masterpiece film of Roman Polanski, in which his new noir aesthetic style is expressed incisively and vividly.
