Factor Market Distortion and Loss of Operating Efficiency of Commercial Banks

采用2007~2015年中国16家上市商业银行的面板数据,在测算考虑非期望产出的经营效率,以及劳动力和资本要素市场扭曲程度的基础上,采用SBM-DEA模型实证分析要素市场扭曲对商业银行经营效率的影响效应。研究发现,考察期内,中国商业银行存在较为严重的要素市场扭曲问题;在考虑了商业银行的不良贷款等非期望产出后,商业银行的经营效率能够得到显著提升;劳动力要素市场扭曲对商业银行考虑非期望产出经营效率的影响效应是不显著的,而资本要素市场扭曲的影响效应显著为正。进一步分析发现,劳动力要素市场扭曲对国有商业银行经营效率的影响效应是不显著的,而资本要素市场扭曲的影响效应则显著为正,劳动力和资本要素市场扭曲对非国有商业银行经营效率的影响均是不显著的。采用门槛回归模型实证分析发现,劳动力和资本要素市场扭曲在影响商业银行经营效率的过程中均存在显著的非线性特征。

Based on the panel data of China＇s 16 listed commercial banks from 2007 to 2015 and by adopting BM-DEA model,this paper analyzes the distortions of labor market and capital factor market on the basis of calculating the operational efficiency considering the unintended output and the market distortions of labor and capital factors. The study finds that,during the period of investigation,market distortions is a serious problem for Chinese commercial banks; after considering the non-expected output,such as bad loans,the operating efficiency of commercial banks can be improved significantly,and the distortion of labor factor market has little effect on the consideration of unintended output operating efficiency by commercial banks. The effect of market distortion is significant positive. Besides,the effect of market distortion of labor factors on the operating efficiency of state-owned commercial banks is insignificant,while the effect of the distortion on capital market is significantly positive. For the effect of the distortion of labor and capital factors on non-state commercial banks,it is not significant. The Threshold Regression Model finds that the labor distortion and capital market distortion have significant nonlinear characteristics in affecting the efficiency of commercial banks.
