Commemorating Callas:On Huang Ying's recital

2017年是“歌剧女皇”玛利亚·卡拉斯辞世40周年,世界各地的纪念活动和音乐会估计不会少。2月26日,韩国女高音曹秀美原定在上海交响乐团音乐厅举办一场纪念卡拉斯的音乐会,后因故不能前来,而改为由中国著名女高音歌唱家黄英救场——“中国夜莺”致敬“歌剧女皇”。

The year 2017 marks the 40^(th)anniversary of the death of Maria Callas.Sumi Jo was originally scheduled to perform at the Shanghai Symphony Hall on February 26,replaced by Huang Ying.For music lovers,Huang's voice type is very different from Calla.s.Hence the performance repertoire lacked many of Callas' s signature arias.But perhaps more important is the celebration of Callas' s artistic spirit rather than her actual singing or repertoire.
