The Boao Forum for Asia(BFA) Annual Conference 2017 was held from March 23 rd to 26 th in Boao Town, Hainan province. The"Paradise Town" attracted the attention of the world again. As the media invited by the conference, the magazine Maritime China has sent several journalists to the Annual Conference. Asia and emerging economies are one of the biggest beneficiaries of globalization, having emerged as one of the strongest drivers of this process. As a major dialogue platform for Asia and emerging economies, the BFA has found it necessary to put globalization into perspective and champion a more inclusive globalization through its Annual Conference. Based on the theme, the BFA Annual Conference 2017 was divided into four modules—globalization, growth, reform and new economy. A total of 44 official sessions and 17 private sessions were held during the conference. On March 25 th, Zhang Gaoli, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Standing Committee and Vice-Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony of the annual conference and addressed a keynote speech titled Promoting Economic globalization and Creating Bright Future for Asian and the World Hand in Hand. As the only major developer and permanent sponsor, COSCO SHIPPING provided satisfying service to ensure the success of the conference once again. Capt. Xu Lirong, chairman and Party secretary of COSCO SHIPPING, attended a series of activities including the opening ceremony and the plenary session. 1823 representatives of the political, industrial and commercial circles from 48 countries and regions also attended the opening ceremony. A more inclusive globalization is the keynote of the Annual Conference. Following the opening ceremony, a plenary session was added in the afternoon to convene prominent leaders from international organizations, business and academic communities to explore the issues of globalization. The "One Belt, One Road" initiative continued to be a key topic, around which two dialogues were respectively held between state leaders and senior government officials, as well as between CEOs and ministers from China and those countries along the Belt/Road. Other topics to be addressed at the Annual conference included Asian regional cooperation, the Doha Round, global value chain reconstruction and the Asia-Pacific free trade zone advocated by China. It is an urgent priority for governments and businesses to stimulate growth through a multi-pronged approach. The BFA Annual Conference 2017 has explored new paths, ideas and drivers of growth from diverse perspectives. Related topics included: global economic sub-health, the limits of monetary policy, fiscal policy as an economic stimulus, austerity and growth, cross-border investment, craftsmanship, small and medium-sized companies as hidden champions and the revival of private-sector investment. During the conference, in the name of the BFA and the 238 members, Boao Forum for Asia Declaration on Economic Globalization was published, becoming another blockbuster results of the Annual Conference. It said, at present, the pressures on global growth and the increase in de-globalization and trade protectionist rhetoric and actions have caused serious concerns about possible disruptions to global trade and growth. Facing this situation, Asian countries should stay committed to the course of open markets, inclusive growth and continued economic cooperation to ensure shared prosperity and sustainable growth in the region. With this in mind, BFA members attending the annual conference 2017, make the six appeals to all national governments and the global business community. BFA and BFA members stand ready to strengthen communication, coordination and cooperation in the aforementioned areas, and play their unique roles to bring about greater openness, inclusiveness, mutual benefit and balance in economic globalization.
