The Villager Narrative in the Local Literature of Revolutionary Idealism

乡民是中国传统社会结构中最为主要的组成部分,与其文化水平整体低下相应的,是这一群体在政治上与社会中也处于底层地位。阶级革命时代的到来,使乡民成为中国革命的主要参与者,也成为了着力表现乡村阶级斗争风云的革命理想主义乡土文学中无可争议的绝对主角。在这些作品中,乡民是具有主体性的革命战士形象,呈现出从外在到思想的本质转变。但当我们绕行到作品背后,回到历史原场,却发现这种转变有着深层的时代内涵,而厘清其中的复杂原因,对当下如何了解与书写乡民群体具有现实的意义。

While it took up a great majority of the population in traditional Chinese society, the villager group was at the bottom in its social status or political history due to its overall low literacy level. With the advent of the class revolutionary era, villagers have become principal participants in the Chinese revolution and absolute protagonists in the local literature of revolutionary idealism aimed at picturing class struggl the indisputably e in rural areas, for in these works they have turned into images of revolutionary fighters with subjectivity, thus having embodied an essential change from the extrinsic aspect to the ideological one. Nevertheless, a probe into causes behind the writing of such works and a return to the historical scene would reveal the profound epochal connotation of such a change. Therefore, a survey of complex causes for such a change is of practical significance for understanding and describing the villager group at the moment.
