Re-understanding the Historical Position of Tao Xingzhi

对历史人物的合理定位是人物研究中的一项重要课题,这不仅是对人物历史贡献的科学评定,而且有助于充分去认识和理解该历史人物,进而更好地去学习借鉴其思想、人格、活动中的有益成分。以往对陶行知的定位一般是"伟大的人民教育家、杰出的民主战士和优秀的大众诗人"的"三定位说",纵观陶行知一生在我国教育事业、民主事业等的事迹和贡献,他的历史定位应是教育家、思想家、政治家、文学家,或者说陶行知是中国近现代历史上集教育、思想、政治和文学四大家于一身的综合型文化巨人,是享誉全球的世界级教育大师。

The reasonable position of historical figures is important in the study of characters, which not only is a scientific assessment of the historical contribution of the characters, but also helps us to fully understand the historical figures and to luther learn beneficial ingredients from his thought, personality and activities. In the past, the position of Tao Xingzhi was generally called ＂great people＇s educationalist, prominent democratic fighter and excellent popular poet＂. But from the whole story of Tao Xingzhi＇ s life in China＇ s education and democratic cause, we can find out that his historical position should be a educator, a thinker, a politician and a writer. In another word, we can say Tao Xingzhi is the very person of education, thought, politics and literature, who is a comprehensive cultural giant in China＇ s modern history and is a world-class master of education all over the world.
