There are a lot of Chinese characters in Japanese from ancient Chinese books and records. In the long process of absorption and evolution, some words in Chinese are reserved, while some others are left off. Because of its geographic location among the chain of mountains, Huizhou (Huizhou in the thesis refers to the area covering six counties, such as Shexian, Xiuning, Qimen, Yixian, Jixi and Wuyuan) escaped the chaos caused by wars during the regime changes, and its legitimacy culture is well reserved. Furthermore, Huizhou had a few contacts with the outside world. Many words, which are not used any more in modern Chinese, are reserved in Huizhou dialects. Based on the reservation of ancient Chinese, the thesis comparatively analyzes the words in modem Japanese and Huizhou dialects, in order to providereferences for the development of ancient Chinese in the context of different cultures.
