The advent of MOOC has opened a brand new era for global education. Compared with traditional teaching, MOOC possess the important advantages and characteristics endowed by advanced information technology and new education technologies. This paper elaborates the general situation of MOOC around the globe, especially in Portuguese regions and countries, analyzes the characteristics and advantages of MOOC, and then researches how to apply MOOC to Portuguese teaching in the new era, hoping to provide some suggestions for the development of Portuguese teaching in China.
