泮村灯会有悠久的历史、独特的传统。灯会仪式在宗族聚合、文化教育、生活环境、族人品性等方面对乡村生活产生影响。乡村生活又从提供组织保证、提供观念支持等方面对灯会仪式进行维护与改造。这些改造实则是乡村"小传统"对城市"大传统"的接纳吸收,使之最终成为"小传统"的组成部分,让乡村生活保持其区别于城市的独特性。
