Understanding the population distribution and medical importance of Aedes is the basis and prerequisite for the surveillance and control of Aedes. Genus Aedes is the largest of Family Culicidae,distributing globally,and found all provinces（ regions） in China. This paper reviewed the morphological characters and classifications,the regional distributions of medical importance species,the biological and ecological characteristics,the morphological,ecological and geographical distributions of important species,and medical importance of Aedes.
