《水浒传》写"王婆卖茶",可溯源至唐五代小说和宋元话本,以及《宣和遗事》等。至《水浒传》成书时代,"王婆"早已成为文学中媒婆形象的"共名",有了茶坊主人的身份。《水浒传》写"王婆卖茶",借象寄意,以"茶"写人,于本回及以下数回叙事的重要性和艺术的成就关系甚大,是全书叙事的一大亮点。"王婆卖茶"在文学史上的贡献在于"茶"意象的创新与充分运用、人物形象的个性化赋予及加强,以及运用数理传统"‘倚数’编撰"的创新等。

To the Ming dynasty, Granny Wang had be-come a widely known title of match - maker. Granny Wang in Water Margin 18 a Key character mat 's closely related with narration and artistic achievements, and also a good point in the narrative of the whole book. The contribution in the literary history lies in the use and innovation of tea image, individualized character and the application of numerological tradition.
