With the fast development of science and technology, surgical technique had been evolved from traditional open surgery to minimally invasive surgery such as laparoscopic sijrgery, and now it have entered into a new era of robotic surgery. At present, the scope of minimally invasive surgery is fiirther expanded by da Vinci surgical system, and leading the forefront of minimally invasive surgery. In urology, the first urologic robotic program in the world was built at the Vattikuti Urology Institute, Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, Michigan, in 2000 under the vision of surgical innovator, Dr. Maui Menon for the radical prostatectomy. The application of robotic surgical technique has since been expanded to the bladder and upper urinary tract surgery with satisfactory results. Robotic surgery as we know it today represents only the infancy to how much technology will advance in the future. The developments will make the treatment more simply and also improve the surgical outcomes.
