现代小城镇题材小说打破正面表现、自我关照的叙事常规,将"都市/乡村"作为"他者"引入小说叙事,参与小城镇形象建构。小说大多以都市/乡村"他者"视角审视小城镇,于人们习以为常的人事风貌中发现它的优美或愚黯。部分作品以"都市/乡村——小城镇"之间的碰撞结构全篇,通过"都市/乡村"人物在小城镇中的命运遭际,揭示小城镇的政治、经济和文化面貌;或以"都市"空间、城中"园"、"城边"世界烛照小城镇社会人生,表现特定时期小城镇的"美"与"善"、"丑"与"恶"。

The modern novels about small and self- care,introduce cities / villages towns break narrative convention of positive performance which are treated as ＂The Other＂ to the novel narrative, and participate in the image construction of small towns. The novels mostly look at small towns from the perspective of ＂The Other＂ in cities / villages, and find its beauty, ignorance and darkness through the description of commonplace characters and things features. Some works construct the whole writing through the collision between cities / villages and small towns, reveal the political, economic and cultural landscape of small towns through characters＇ destiny circumstances in small towns,illuminate the society life in small towns by ＂urban＂ space, city ＂garden＂ ,＂ the edge of the city＂ world, and display ＂the beautiful＂ and ＂the good＂,＂ the ugly＂ and ＂the evil＂ in small towns in a specific period.
