Study on Compliment Speech Act Modes in A Dream of Red Mansions

称赞语是言语交际中协调人际关系、促进社会和谐的润滑剂。以奥斯丁的言语行为理论、布朗和列文森的礼貌理论中的面子学说为基准,对《红楼梦》故事中称赞言语行为模式进行研究,以探寻称赞语在那个年代人们日常言语交际中的应用模式及言语行为效果。结果显示:比喻型称赞、对比型称赞和渐进型称赞言行为模式是最能有效调节大观园中人与人之间关系的称赞言语行为模式,因而备受青睐。

Compliment Speech Act is a kind of lubricant in coordinating the interpersonal relationship and promoting har- monious society in speech communications. Based on Austin＇s Speech Act Theory as well as Brown ＆Levinson＇s Politeness Theory, this paper attempts to study some of the compliment speech act modes in A Dream of Red Mansions to interpret Compliment Speech Act application modes and effect. The result shows that the figurative compliment, contrastive compli- ment and prOgressive compliment modes are the very important compliment means of coordinating the interpersonal relation- ship and most favorable in the Grand View Garden.
