A series of new issues happening during piloting cruise ships with podded electric propulsion are analyzed and how to ensure the safety of the cruise ship piloting is investigated and, then, suggests that the pilots should be familiar with the characteristics of podded electric propulsion and master its manipulation skills. It concludes with the proposal that a set of standardized maneuvering terminology should be defined, which will be the foundation of effective collaboration of the bridge team. The mechanism of mutual supervision can also better develop with the command standardization so that the ar- riving/departing cruise ship will enjoy higher safety.
