Elizabeth Alexandrova-Zorina is one of the most outstanding Russian writers of "the generation in the 30s". Her novels and short stories are famous for the magical mix of reality and fantasy. Based on the history and actuality of Russia, her writings focus on the conflicts between the contemporary women and modern metropolises, telling the encounters of ordinary people with the problems of life and death. The realistic elements and magical features of her writing are the characteristics inherited respectively from Russian critical realistic literature and Euro-Ameriean post-modern literature. With her short story collection The Woman Rebel as a case in point, this paper examines the feminist themes and the style of post-modern literature in her writings. The paper analyzes women's fate in the wave of urbanization, female theme of giving birth and life and death, post-modern literary symbols and metaphors and attempts to reveal that the moral pursuit of Alexandrova-Zorina' s writing is the appeal for love which is lost and absent in the urbanization of modem society.
