Pragmatic Turn of English Teaching under the Perspective of ELF

国际通用语语境下交际者的英语水平和母语文化背景成为交际的语境要素,语用能力表现为多语言多文化的交融能力和语用策略能力。英语教学不应以适应英语语用规约和英语文化为唯一标准。增加语用能力测试、培养学习者的母语文化自信是中国英语教育改革的重要路向。

Under the perspective of English as a lingua franca, communicator’s English competence and native cultural background become elements of communicating context, their pragmatic competence is manifested in the abilities of multi-cultural integration and pragmatic strategies. Introducing English pragmatic principles and English cultural norms is not the single goal of English teaching. Pragmatic competence testing and Chinese culture self-confidence cultivating contribute to the English education reforms.
