This paper draws upon Bourdieu's capital theory to examine Howard Goldblatt's establishment of channels of translation since 1970 s. It points out that Howard Goldblatt managed to accumulate symbolic capital in the field of restricted production through conversion of cultural capital in 1970-1980 s,strengthened his symbolic capital in the field of large-scale production by complying with commercial rules and formed the strategy of translation selection for both fields in the 1990 s,and as his symbolic capital is strong enough to be a form of power,he can create channels for his preferred works. The paper tries to elucidate the interaction between the translator's symbolic capital and the field, with a view to casting some sidelight on related issues.
