Born in a Jewish family, raised in the Christian world, and obsessed by oriental reli-gions, Salinger overcame the one-sidedness and limitation of any single religion, transcended one-di-mensional religious and philosophical perspective, and finally formulated a unique mode of humanistic concern when his above-mentioned different religious and philosophical thoughts collided and integrat-ed with each other. Both Salinger and his characters, entangled in the course of the evolvement and integration of such different religious faiths and philosophical thoughts, finally achieve a peaceful co-existence and mutual promotion between their inner self and the outside world under the guidance of oriental religions and by adopting religious pluralism.
