A Study on The Analects of Confucius Translated by Liu Dianjue Based on Toury's Theory of Translation Norms

在国外众多翻译理论家中,图里是重要的代表人物之一,他的翻译规范论独树一帜。本文从图里翻译规范理论中的预备规范、起始规范和操作规范三个方面,分析刘殿爵《论语》英译本的合理性和独到之处:作品以及译者的选择遵循了预备规范;英译本的充分翻译受到起始规范的影响;英译本的篇章取舍、遣词造句受到操作规范的指导。

As a representative theorist in translation, Toury is often seen as unique for his theory of translation norms consisted of preliminary norms, initial norms and operational norms. Based on such a theory, the paper made an analysis on Liu Dianjue＇s translation of The Analects of Confucius and pointed out how these 3 different types of norms were observed respectively in text and translation selection, sufficient translation to English and choices of words and chapters.
