Because of the close relationship between jewelry and the body, there are intimate interactions between jewelry works and human's perception. It is an important way to understand artworks by identifying, interpreting and organizing our perception and experience of artworks. Melanie Bilenker depicts the female body in a domestic environment, which is not only a celebration of the transient moments in her daily life, but also a temptation of senses. By applying Maurice Merleau-Ponty's theory in Phenomenology of Perception, I explore how Bilenker perceives her life, how she interprets her thoughts into jewelry, and how her works enrich and recast the viewer's and wearer's perception.
