功能语言学视角下斯宾塞诗Sonnet 54不同汉译本的对比分析

A Comparative Analysis from the Perspective of Functional Linguistics on Different Chinese Versions of Spenser's Sonnet 54

功能语法作为语篇分析的有力工具,越来越多地被应用于翻译研究。Sonnet 54是埃德蒙·斯宾塞爱情十四行诗中具有代表性的一首,对研究文艺复兴时期的诗歌具有重要的参考价值。从功能语法视角出发,对该诗及其两个汉译本的及物性特征进行对比发现,从及物性角度来看,胡家峦译本比王佐良译本更忠实于原诗,更能体现原诗独有的结构和意蕴之美。由此说明功能语法的及物性分析可应用于对诗歌翻译的评价,从而避免单纯从文学角度和修辞角度分析所导致的主观性。

As the powerful tool for discourse analysis,functional grammar is increasingly inclined to be applied to translation studies. Sonnet 54,as one of the representatives of Edmund Spenser＇s love sonnets,is of great value of reference for studies on the Renaissance poetry. Applying functional grammar, the contras- tive transitivity analysis on this sonnet and its Chinese translations reveals that, from the perspective of transitivity, Hu Jialuan＇s translated version is more faithful to the original and expresses more of the u- nique beauty of structure and implications of the original than is Wang Zuoliang＇s. It is proved that transi- tivity analysis can be used to evaluate translations of English poems,avoiding subjectivity caused by analy- ses only from a literary and rhetorical persl^ective.
