Pear S. Buck, who received the western education systematically, unconsciously fuses western culture or literary tradition into her works with the Chinese subjects. Her Anti-Japanese War short story " Mother of the Guer- rillas" is quite similar to "The Book of Judith" in Deuterocanonical Books in theme, plot and characters. Being skeptical about Christianity, having a negative attitude towards missionary activities abroad, she intentionally omits the strong religious flavor in her works and replaces it with intellectual brilliance. Meanwhile, she exquisitely de- picts individual psychological journey and life trajectory instead of picturing the mammoth historical background and legendarily narrating the characters, which reflects her different points of view and value orientations.
