Toxicity and health effects of methyl tert-butyl ether: a review of recent studies

甲基叔丁基醚(MTBE)做为一种汽油添加剂在全世界范围内被广泛应用,因其易溶于水且极难降解,易在环境中蓄积,影响人群健康。该文就MTBE的生殖毒性、遗传毒性、致癌性、内分泌毒性、低剂量效应等毒理学研究及其健康影响研究进展进行综述。

Methyl tert-butyl ether （MTBE） is extensively used in the world as a gasoline additive. However, for its higher water solubility and hard degradation, the residues of MTBE can be widely detected in the ecological system and living environment, with considerable risk to human health. In the present paper, the recent toxicological studies concerning the toxic effects of MTBE were summarized, including reproductive toxicity,genetic toxicity,earcinogenicity,endocrine toxicity,low dose effects, and the adverse effects on population health based on the epidemiologieal studies were also presented and discussed.
