Theory of Chinese Culture in the Sense of “Home”

"家"首先是个房子,但重要的不是房子,是人,有人才有家;有父、有母、有子女,才是一个完整的"家"。家有家规,中国传统家庭规矩讲究"长幼有序""亲疏有别",讲究父慈、子孝、兄爱、弟敬。中国传统伦理规范大多是有关家庭伦理的,表明中国传统社会最注重和强调家。家在中国文化里是一个非常复杂的概念,是一个包含有多种感情色彩、多种感情成分的概念,"家"以血亲为纽带,但血亲亦只是形式,重点却是家庭成员间的真感情。

Family not only means we own a house, but also the family members. Parents and children consist of a complete family. Family needs rules, which include respecting for seniority, influence of blood-distance , stressing father＇s love and son＇s filial piety, showing love and respect as good brothers should. Traditional Chinese ethics to a great extent can be said of as family ethics, suggesting that tra- ditional Chinese society lays great stress on family. The concept of family in the context of Chinese culture is complex, containing a variety of emotional elements. Family members are linked by blood in China, but blood relationship is not the key but a form. The key is the true feelings between family members in Chinese family.
