Paradise Lost is the great epic written by John Milton in 1667, occupies a very high position in English literature. Satan is a hot character focused by many scholars, and the debate on whether he is a hero or not was kept for hundreds of years. The paper intends to analyze Paradise Lost from the theory of narrative focalization defined by Gerard Genette, and expound the relationship of internal focalization and complicated image-building of Satan in Paradise Lost.
