Wang Guowei＇s comments on Ci shows his unique farsightedness in literary criticism, and his appreciation of Li Yu and Qu Yuan had personal reasons, that is, all of them believe literature is both for aesthetic enjoyment and social progress. Though Wang Guowei considers his Ci poems equal to that of great masters such as Ouyang Xiu, in fact most of his Ci poems are imitations of previous masters while his comments on Ci in Ren Jian＇s Comments on Ci has become a classic in Chinese literary criticism.
