On Qiao Ye's Novels in the View of Contemporary Town Literature

乔叶的小城小说继承了河南作家表现中原文化的文学传统,塑造了众多精于算计的小城人物形象。她通过不同的叙述角度表现了河南的风俗习惯,反映了城市化进程对小城的内在影响。乔叶经常通过女性叙述者的视点建构小城形象,形成了先抑后扬的叙述模式。乔叶的小城小说由于采用了女性视角和民间视角而多了一些家常,少了几分文化批判的自觉与犀利,但其内容反映了城市化进程中新旧观念碰撞的丰富性和复杂性,其独特的叙事角度和叙述策略开启了小城文学的新维度,也为女性文学创作的拓展进行了有益的探索。

Qiao Ye＇s town novels inherited the literature traditions for Henan writers to express the culture of the Central China by shaping the politic characters of the town. She showed the customs of Henan through different angels, and reflected the internal impact of urbanization process on the town. Qiao Ye often constructed the image of the town in the view of female narrator, and formed the structure mode of praising after restraining. By the view of female and folk, Qiao Ye＇s town novels had more domestic trivialities, less consciousness and sharp culture criticism, hut it reflected the richness and complexity of the collision between the old and new concept in the process of urbanization. Moreover, its unique narrative perspective and strategy opened a new field of town literature, which was a useful exploration for the development of female literary creation.
