The five development ideas of ＂innovation, coordination, green development, openness and sharing＂ are the guideline for the development of the harmonious society, economy, science and culture. In the crucial stage of building a well-off society in an all-round way, the integration of ＂five great development philosophies＂ in marine science education is of great significance, because of which the education models could nurture full-quality and high-quality talents for the strategy of＂Maritime Powers＂ and ＂the Belt and Road Initiative （B ＆ R）＂. Here we discuss the necessity of the ＂five great development philosophies＂ in marine science education and expound the new goals and new tasks of marine science education guided by the ＂five great development philosophies＂, which provide new ideas for deepening the reform of marine science education.
