Since the birth of Restoration Comedy, it has been labeled as "immorality" and "profaneness" for its bold representation of love affairs and infidelities in aristocratic families. However, behind the apparent bawdy plots, the profound thinking of dramatists on the social problems and institutions has also been revealed. Therefore, the playwrights use the satirical techniques to depict society as well as insinuate their strong moral instructions.
