The identification of the India culture pursued by Leslie Marmon Silko in Gardens in the Dunes is based on the traditional cultures, but the Native American traditional culture becomes effective strategies of his cultural resistance in the context of post-colonization. On the one hand,Silko shapes ghost dance, one of the representatives of Native American culture,as the spiritual source of writing Native American identity discourse, manifesting the value and significance of the Indian culture through the contrast to the dominate culture. On the other hand, the combination of fiction and history under the reference to ghost dance reveals the existing issues in American historical writing, reflecting her aims at exploring the possibility of reconstructing the cultural historical identity by reexamining the history. Meanwhile,Silko describes the ghost dance as a symbol of great unity of cultures to express her political ideal.
