序跋文是徐增散文创作中最有价值的一部分。从其序跋文可看出,徐增崇古而抑今、以元气和性情为根本、讲求师承妙悟和起承转合、注重体备才全和游历读书的诗学思想。其中崇古抑今是宏观倾向,元气和性情是源泉,元气更是使内在的性情外化的方法,师承妙悟和起承转合是技巧、方法,体备才全和游历读书是驾驭法的能力。这套理论自成系统,圆融自足。既有个人印记,又体现了清朝的时代底蕴,具有一定艺术的高度和美感。

Preface and postscript,as one of the most important creation in Xu Zeng＇s essays,represents his thoughts of poetry.Xu worshipped the ancient and criticized the current,took vigor and temperament as the basic,highlighted master-disciple inheritance and apprehension,and focused physical cultivation,qualifiedaptitude and travelling for reading.The thinking system proved itself a sound system,not only showed his own thoughts but also represented the era connotations,with its artistic beauty and elegancy.
