As a main course of English Major, intensive reading teaching plays a vital role in laying solid foundation for English majors. Penetrating the knowledge of English ＆ American Literature into intensive reading is of great benefit to both the intensive course and English majors. This paper aims to probe into the teaching practice though a case study of Contemporary College English intensive Reading （the 2^nd Edition）. The ways of integrating the knowledge of English ＆ American Literature lie in unfolding obscure meaning, clarifying special points in figure of speech, and to explain the focuses for the purpose of integration.
