Katherine Anne porter, as a famous short story writer and stylist in the 20th century of American literature, is admired by many readers due to her clever and diverse artistic style, accurate and vivid text description as well as the profound and far-reaching work connotation. She publishes not much works in her life, but almost all are excellent ones. Therefore, she has won the wide recognition from critics because of the superior creative talents and unique writing style. Starting from relevant research methods and narrator＇ theory, this paper makes analysis of Porter＇s masterpiece from the narrative perspective of implied comment function. Meanwhile, it tries to explore the narrator＇s role in promoting the gist and in conveying ideas through this kind of narrative technique.
