摘要
英语新闻标题在表达中对字数有着特别严格的要求,即能使用言简意赅的词语将新闻中的中心内容概括出来。与其他文体存在一定的差异,英语新闻标题具有独特的语用功能。英语新闻标题的词汇特征体现在短词、缩略词及模糊词;语用功能则体现在交际、自我保护、简洁及时等方面。
English news headlines have particularly strict requirements towards the number of words in the expression, namely, concise and brief words should be used to sum up the core contents of the news, which is quite different from other genres. English news headlines have unique pragmatic functions. Lexical features of English news headlines embody in short words, acronyms and fuzzy words, while pragmatic functions manifest in communication, self-protection, concision and timeliness.
