In Chinese modern times, the Chinese craftsmen organization derived from Shuimu Workshop entered into the market of construction practice in way of project contracting and bidding; from scattered individual or limited group without effective organization at the beginning, and when building production had become increasingly complicated, and the collective collaboration were badly needed, Shuimu Workshop began to transform its business model in order to adapt to the development of construction industry. Thus, the first construction firm was come into being (1880). After that, the new construction companies emerged one after the other, many of which were branched from the original construction firms. Different social relations of educational background were bred between the construction firms, which formed a close connection in business with the architects.
