说曾侯钟铭的“弗■是無”

An Analysis on 弗■是無 in the Inscription of Marquis Zeng's Chime-bell

文峰塔M4甬钟铭文所述"差右楚王,弗■是無"为进一步探讨曾楚二国关系提供了新的证据。本文结合相关出土文字材料,对钟铭"■"、"無"二字的释读提出新的看法,将"■"训为"弃","無"字读为"许",训动词"许诺"义。"弗■是無"即"承诺不相离弃"之意。

The chime-bell with the inscription ＂as been assisted and blessed by the king of Chu, they promised not to abandon each other（弗[壽戈]是無）＂ unearthed fromtomb No.M4 in Wenfengta Ceme- tery provides further evidence to analyze the relationship between the Zeng and Chu state. Through rele-vant unearthed document materials, the author proposes several new explanations to Chou [壽戈] and Wu 無.HereChou [壽戈]is interpreted as ＂abandon＂ and Wu（無） as ＂promise＂, thereforethe meaning of （弗[壽戈]是無） is derived as ＂ to promise not to abandon each other＂.
