摘要
本文对作者十多年前提出的"中国人学外语,学外语为中国"作了新形势下的重新阐释。认为"中国人学外语"体现了中国人的文化自觉,其中包含三个内容:①这是实现中国的国际担当,学习外语,了解世界,与世界共命运;②中国人学外语将给外语教学带来从重"教"到重"学"的转向;③而以"学"为主的外语教学又将引起对比研究的转向。"学外语为中国"则体现了中国人的文化自信,第一,学外语是为了不断丰富和发展自己的文化;第二,在学外语的过程中重新认识自己的语言文化;第三,传播中国优秀文化,作出中国对世界应有的贡献。
The paper offers a new explanation to an inscription he wrote for the launching of a new journal for foreign learning: ' Chinese people learning foreign languages,which is for the sake of China' some years ago.He holds that in the new era when China becomes the second largest power in the world the two sentences still work.The first sentence implies the selfconsciousness of the Chinese people in learning foreign languages which means,firstly,a way to shoulder their international responsibility by understanding the world and sharing the common fate with world's people,secondly,making a turn from teaching-oriented to learning-oriented in second language learning,and thirdly,also a return of contrastive study laying emphasis on the learner's part.The second sentence reveals the self-confidence of the Chinese people in learning foreign languages,which contains,firstly,the openness to the world by absorbing legacies of all other cultures to enrich its own,secondly,a re-examination of Chinese tradition in the new light,and thirdly,making Chinese culture known to the world.
