In order to understand the effect of different soil ciliates, a study of soil ciliate communities across vegetation restoration patterns on communities characteristics of three kinds of different vegetation restoration patterns (spruce, poplar forest, mixed forest) and different recovery stages was undertaken using live observation ciliates and "the three level ten-fold dilution method" in Dingxi Chankou forestry experimental farm from October 2011 to September 2012. A total of 141 species were identified, belonging to 3 classes, 10 orders, 37 families and 50 genera. The results showed that the community characteristics of soil ciliates had obvious differences among the various sampling sites of different vegeta- tion restoration patterns, the community structure of soil ciliates was the most complex in mixed forest and it of poplar forest was the most simple, and species richness, abundance and species diversity index showed the succession of mixed forest〉spruce 〉poplar forest. With prolonging of restoration years, the community structure of soil ciliates tended to be complicated, and species richness, abundance and species diversity index showed an obvious upward trend in the spruce and mixed forest, but them of poplar forest showed a contrary trend. The results shows that the restoration patterns of mixed forest greatly improved the soil environment quality and optimized the community structure of soil ciliates, and had advantages to restoration and reconstruction of ecological environment in this region.
