In the twenty -six years when Liu De was holding the princely title of Hejian, his academic aspiration to ＇ ardently love the past and devotedly seek the truth＇ as well as personal charisma attracted many Confucian scholars to his court. They formed a large and influential academic community that made remarkable contributions to ancient Chinese culture. By their dedication to gathering historic archives and upholding Confucian principles, numerous ancient cultural achievements escaped the fate of oblivion. They also initiated new hermeuneutic paradigms for scripts written in pre - Qin characters and established the ideological foundation for Chinese monarchic ruling. It was these cultural accomplishments that finally secured their seat of immortality to the posterity.
