摘要
第一次世界大战爆发后,美国从和平主义急遽转向了战争狂热,好莱坞也经历了这样一个转型。电影被作为一种强大的政治宣传工具被紧急动员起来。格里菲斯、卓别林等电影大师都参与到战争片创作当中。战争片类型丰富,但内容上善恶二元对立的模式化倾向明显。从思想与艺术角度看,好莱坞战争片出现了倒退,但美国和好莱坞却取得了惊人的"跨越式发展",美国成为了新的全球霸主,好莱坞也开启了它统治世界的历程。
After the breaking out of World War I, the U.S. turned abruptly from peace-loving to war-fervent, and Hollywood also experienced such a transition. Movies were used as a mighty instrument for political propaganda. Movie giants like Griffith and Chaplin all took part in the creation of war movies. Although there were many types, war movies at that time still mainly followed the mode of good-evil binary opposition. From the ideological and artistic points of view, Hollywood war movies retrograded, yet both the U.S. and the Hollywood turned to achieved amazing "leaping progress", which guaranteed the U.S. to be the new world leader, and Hollywood its voyage to rule the world.
