Objective To evaluate the treatment effects of neck and shoulder myofascial pain syndrome treated by blast waves combined with trigger point injections. Methods 48 patients with neck and shoulder myofascial pain syndrome were randomly divided into the treatment group (treated by blast waves combined with trigger point injections, n=24) and the control group (treated by trigger point injections, n=24)from October 2013 and October 2016 in the Xinjiang Bazhou People's Hospital. The visual analog scale(VAS) was used to evaluate the severity of the pain , the VAS of two groups were compared before treatment (T0), after treatment (T1) and 3 weeks after treatment(T1-T3). Results Compared with before treatment, the T1 - T3 VAS scores of two groups were lower(P 〈 0.05); with the increase of treatment time and frequency, the VAS scores of two groups showed a tendency of deereasing(P 〈 0.05 ); there were statistical differences in the VAS scores at different time points after the treatment in two groups , the treatment group were significantly lower than that of the control group (P〈 0.05), the good rate and effective rate of the treatment group were higher than that of the control group ( P 〈 0.05 ). All patients were successfully treated with no adverse events. Conduslon As a new effective method to treat neck and shoulder myofaseial pain syndrome, blast waves combined with trigger point injections had the advantages of little tissue damage, safety, convenience and high curative effect.
