Xu Yuanchong,A Translator Developed with the Time

许渊冲先生已经出版译著160余部,并以自身翻译经验为基础,提出中国首个健全的翻译本体论、认识论、目的论和方法论,业已构成完善的翻译理论体系。许渊冲,译之时者也!然而也有必要对他的经验教训加以总结和研究,以图为中国翻译科学的发展以及许渊冲翻译与比较文化研究院的目标与任务提供一定的参考。

Xu Yuanchong is a translator developed with the time. Since 1984 when he happened to meet the translation theory proposed by Xu Yuanchong, Pan Wenguo got inspired and encouraged in both aspects of theory and practice. Up to now, Xu Yuan- chong has published more than 160 translation works, and proposed the flint sound system of translational ontology, epistemology, teleology and methodology grounded on his own translation experience. Therefore, it is necessary to sum up and study his experience of and lessons in translation theory and practice, in order to offer valuable references for the development of Chinese translation stud- ies and the goal and task of Xu Yuanehong Institute of Translation and Comparative Culture.
