Film is the Truth Transformed into Images: An Interview with Sergei Parajanov

1988年慕尼黑电影节期间,谢尔盖·帕拉杰诺夫接受了此次采访。通过追忆他在苏联全俄国立电影学院的师友和求学时期的轶事,帕拉杰诺夫勾勒出了20世纪中叶苏联电影的发展趋势。与此同时,帕拉杰诺夫回溯了他在苏联被监禁的遭遇以及他怎样凭借艺术创作超脱其苦难。此外,帕拉杰诺夫还谈及创作《吟游诗人》等作品的缘由、理念和具体设计;分享他关于电影制作和艺术的洞见以及他对风格与真实、电影与时代、导演与其国族性之间关系的理解。

In this interview conducted during Filmfest Munchen （1988）, the director Sergei Parajanov recollected the teaching staff and his friends in the time of his VGIK period and some indelible events which reflected the latent changes in the Soviet cinema in the 1950s. He related his experience of imprisonment and how he managed to transcend his sufferings through art. Also he revealed his intentions and designs, underlying his representative works and provided his personal insights into the arts, the nature of film-making and the relationship between the style and the truth, cinema and its times, directors and their nationalities, etc.
