In this interview conducted during Filmfest Munchen (1988), the director Sergei Parajanov recollected the teaching staff and his friends in the time of his VGIK period and some indelible events which reflected the latent changes in the Soviet cinema in the 1950s. He related his experience of imprisonment and how he managed to transcend his sufferings through art. Also he revealed his intentions and designs, underlying his representative works and provided his personal insights into the arts, the nature of film-making and the relationship between the style and the truth, cinema and its times, directors and their nationalities, etc.
