木棺绘画是民间艺术中的分支,具有一定的艺术价值,前人对于木棺绘画研究屈指可数且较为零散,主要都是以考古形式出现。就目前而言,木棺绘画方面的研究仅有对于西藏吐蕃出土的少量棺板画作了描述。主要针对其历史价值方面进行论述,对于艺术价值基本没有论述。在对甘肃环县地区木棺绘画的艺术特点研究,进一步探索民间艺术分支中木棺绘画的艺术特点,通过对木棺绘画中色调、构图及主题进行分析,及木棺绘画中图案所代表的含义,了解丧葬艺术的独特性;通过对环县地区丧葬艺术的研究与了解,得出环县地区民间丧葬艺术存在的意义。
