Safety of Sulfonylureas therapy in elderly population

本文通过查询近年文献,总结老年患者使用磺脲类药物(SUs)的风险主要表现为低血糖反应、心血管不良事件、致癌风险,为老年患者开具SUs时需综合评估患者病情,减少药物引起的不良事件发生。

Here we reviewed the risk of sulfonyluras therapy in eiderly population, including hypoglycemia, cardiovascular events and cancer risk by searching recent literatures. Comprehensive evaluation of patients＇ conditions should be done before prescribing sulfonylureas for the eldly patients, in order to reduce the occurrence of adverse drug events caused by sulfonylureas.
