摘要
《装聋作哑》是英国戏剧家毛姆三部婚姻题材戏剧之一。它讲述了一位上流社会的夫人康斯坦丝面对自己丈夫的出轨行为所做出的前后不同的两次伦理选择以及由此引发的其伦理身份的转变。通过对毛姆《装聋作哑》的文学伦理学解读,并与《恶性循环》进行的平行研究,可以发现毛姆通过这部戏剧为读者留下了两个婚姻伦理问题:失去爱情基础的婚姻应该走向何处?女性在获得经济独立之后,应该如何对待自身伦理身份的转变?
The Constant Wife is one of the three marriage dramas written by a British dramatist W. S. Maugham. It nar- rates an upper class lady Constanse made two different ethical selections in the face of her husband's infidelity,which brought the consequent change in her ethical identity. Through the literary ethics criticism of Maugharn's The Constant Wife and the parallel study with The Circle ,it can be found that Maugham through this drama leaves the ethical enlighten- ment or the following two issues for the readers: where marriage should go after losing the basement of love? And after the economic independence of women ,how should they deal with the change of their own ethical identity?
